How to Judge the Best Faucet Water Filter
71Like me, you will spend large chunks of time searching the internet for the best faucet water filter. When I went looking for a faucet filter I was surprised at the quality differences I found. Because of this I thought I wanted to pass on the information learned to give you a head start with your research. Here here my top 3 things to look out for when researching the best faucet water filter.
#1 - Indentify what contaminates get eliminated
I reviewed products from 10 unique faucet filter companies. On each companies websites they have the facts about the unique contaminates their filters will remove. I assumed that all filters were very much the same but I found out they are not. The number of contaminates that are each product eliminates is quite different even though the cost are all about the same. Some products only remove the basics like chlorine and lead. While the best faucet water filters remove up to 10 other contaminates from Cysts to Benzene.
#2 - Effectiveness of the filter
Here is another area I was surprised to find out was so much different. You can take two filters that look to be the same but further investigation of the contaminates removed shows a different story. For example take a contaminent that would seem easy to remove, Chlorine. I compared the top 10 filters and the percent of contaminate removal ranged from 75% to 99%. Pretty astounding, In fact this wide difference is eviendant for any of the contaminates you would like eliminated from their drinking water.
#3 - Cost per Gallon
A faucet filter can be a significant investment, so you'll want to check out the on-going cost to operate one. There is a measurement you will find quoted by the manufactures that is "cost per gallon". This measure gives us a benchmark that we can see the on-going cost of different water filters. Here again the costs are at both ends of the spectrum, and they don't seem to match the effectiveness or numbers of contaminates removed. I found on a "cost per gallon" basis a range of 9.8 to 25 cents per gallon. This means some filters cost almost 3 times more to operate but they don't always provide 3 times cleaner water.
Its now up to you, I've given you 3 things to consider when you pick out the best faucet water filter. Take these 3 faucet filter tips and begin your own research, to start you off here's a great site to begin with:

Having a safe water to drink is very important...that's why having the right water filter is a must!
My inlaws got a faucet filtration system and it made a world of difference in how the water tasted. Before the filtration system, they were buying bottled water.
Now with a small investment in their faucet system, all of her cooking tastes better, including drinks like coffee. Plus they have already saved a ton of money.
Good hub!
It is very important to drink pure water. Most of the dieses are caused becouse we don't drink pure water.
This hub has such great information on how to judge the best faucet water filter. Filtering our water is becoming more and more important as the food we eat seems to be getting less and less nutritious.
This is a blatant biased advertisement for one particular filter. Beware.
"Pure Water" is about the most dangerous thing you can drink. It does not exist in nature. People who have had access to pure water and drank it for an extended period of time have wound up in hospital. Two of the most basic rules of biochemistry are "Water follows salt" and "salt follows water". When you drink purified water, it sucks all the mineral salts out of your blood stream. You need to drink mineralized water. Don't take my word for it although I worked in Dialysis centers and have a University education in Biochemistry. Ask a Nephrologist (Kidney specialist). This article is dangerous and ill-informed.
